How do you inspire yourself daily?

Each of us has their own struggles in life. What may seem like a perfect life to someone’s eyes may not always be the case. No life is perfect – just like no one is perfect. And that’s perfectly okay!

What matters is how you deal with your day to day struggle and live pass through it or succeed from it.

Weight, as well as a good lifestyle, have been something I’ve been struggling with for several years now. My busy, workaholic mind has been neglecting my body for some time. And recently I’ve decided it has to stop and I have to make some changes if I want to be healthier and enjoy life more.

As expected, the process is never easy. There are days when I find myself cheating and eating starchy foods as opposed to fresh and healthy food. There are also those days when exercising becomes the first thing I procrastinate.

And because every day is a battle with myself, I knew I needed to find daily inspirational tips that worked for me. Let me share with you some of the inspirational steps that have helped me.

1. Make your goals more visible – On my computer screen, I put the weight that I’m targeting. It’s so simple but since I work and even eat on my desk every day, it’s easy for me to remind myself about my weight goal before I decide on visiting the fridge. I have also drawn a graph to show my projected goal for each day and my actual weight so I can see how I am progressing.

2. Repeat your mantra – I have this particular mantra that I read from a book once. The book said, when you are faced with a difficult situation ask yourself: “What if I fail? And what if I succeed?” Usually, when I feel like just quitting, I ask myself these questions. It then gets me thinking of what situation I want to be in… Obviously, I would like to be in a situation where I can say that I succeeded. This instantly gets me back on track.

3. Close your eyes and visualize the perfect you – There will be those days where you will need to be strict and tough with yourself. Sometimes the best motivator is ourselves. When I know I’m about to order dessert, I make a conscious effort to pause, close my eyes and see myself looking my best and feeling good.

How do you inspire yourself every day? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below!

Don’t stop believing

There’s this Pop song that I keep hearing on the radio lately; it’s called ‘Don’t stop believing’ by Journey. It used to be just another song for me. But one day I remember when I was feeling really depressed because things were not exactly turning out the way I want them to. Then I heard this song again. And the words that really stuck with me were

“Don’t stop believing..”

It was all random but it was one of those daily inspirational messages you hear unexpectedly. And when it hits you, you find yourself slowly breaking away from your blues and inspire you to take action.

Inspirational messages can appear anywhere. It could be in a song, a book, or even a random signboard.

What’s the best inspirational message you’ve heard of lately?

What is your greatest motivating factor?

There are a lot of factors that could inspire us to do certain things. Some people are inspired with power, while others are inspired out of fear. Below are some common factors that usually get people to stand up and take some action.

1. Reward – We’ve all experienced this, especially when we were kids. When your parents tell you to clean your room in exchange for ice cream. Or when your teacher gives you a good score if you do well on a math test. Having the knowledge that you will be rewarded for a certain action can be highly motivating for some people; especially when the stakes are high.

2. Fear – Some people are inspired by fear. When they see how a situation is going to end and they don’t like the possible consequences, it usually is a great motivating factor to wake up and make sure it doesn’t end up the way they don’t want it to.

3. Peer pressure – Whether we admit it or not acceptance of society and those around you is a greatest motivating factor in our lives. The idea of fitting into a group or being praised by your peer is enough to inspire us to excel. It can be as simple as jumping off a cliff with friends or moving to a new city; our peers can be a great motivating factor that makes us take action.

We all have our own inspiration that propels us. It may be a bit different from person to person. But what unites us is that drive to achieve something better.

What is your greatest motivating factor? Do you agree with the factors above? Share in the comments below!
