For inspiration try watching Graduation speeches. I want to share with you one of the most inspiring and funny commencement speeches I’ve heard so far. It’s a speech made by the comedienne Amy Poehler to the 2011 graduating class of Harvard.
The reason this particular speech has left a mark on me is because she was able to subtly incorporate many inspirational life messages that actually make a lot of sense. Her inspirational thoughts of life may seem pretty basic, but it is something we tend to forget and needs reminding every now and then.
My favorite part of her speech is when she said:
“What I have discovered as a person in this world. And that is this: you can’t do it alone. As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life. No one is here today because they did it on their own.”
Yes – group work, interaction and collaboration is so important.

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.” ― Paulo Coelho
That’s one of my favorite will tickle your “Fight or Flight” response. It’s good to think well before discerning but I also believe that sometimes you just have to take the leap and grab it. Sometimes it’s in taking the leap and embracing the fall that you get to learn life’s most important lessons. Life will not wait for you forever, take the leap and make the most of it. It is in the doing that we have our inspiring magical favorite experiences.

Reading autobiographies can give you insights on how other people have gone through life challenges and pick up their own inspirational life messages along the way. No matter how big the celebrity or how successful the person is at one point or another, we all go through similar life challenges and I love reading about their take on it and how they’ve overcome those challenges.
Michael Hill is a successful jeweler in New Zealand who was able to expand his brand worldwide; of course with a few bumps along the way. This is one of my favorite quotes from Micheal Hill:
“Health, wealth and happiness only come to those who focus on all three. It takes discipline, but so does anything worthwhile. “
I keep needing that reminder – to be more disciplined. It’s very simple and something definitely worth keeping in mind - the discipline to balance health, wealth, relationships and happiness.

A few days ago, I came across this video on Youtube. What caught my attention really was the title: “The Woman Who Changed Her Brain”. It was interesting to know how that’s possible and if it was done in a scientific manner. I never expected that from that video, I would hear some of the most inspirational messages for the day.
Have look. It’s worth the 14 minutes.

According to Merriam-Webster dictionary inspiration can be defined as:
a : a divine influence or action on a person believed to qualify him or her to receive and communicate sacred revelation
b : the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions
c : the act of influencing or suggesting opinions
For me inspiration is that unexplainable sensation I get from someone, something or a particular event that makes me want to be better. I love it when I get inspired with the simplest of things.
Inspiration is everywhere, you just have to look.

Lately I’ve gotten back into the habit of reading. I’m trying to read at least one book every week. This week I read The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho once again.
I read this a few years ago, but the message did not hit home as much as it did recently. Let me share with you my favorite inspirational thoughts of life I got from the book…
“I was thinking about how much time I had wasted in the same place, while my friends had moved on, and either went bankrupt or did better that they had before. It made me very depressed. Now, I can see that it hasn’t been too bad. The shop is exactly the size I always wanted it to be. I don’t want to change anything, because I don’t know how to deal with change. I’m used to the way I am.”
– The Alchemist
It made me realize that I always compare success to that of others instead of appreciating what I have in front of me.
